Ill-gotten money: Task force targets Switzerland, UK and UAE

Federal government is also mulling over to lodge legal proceedings against top 100 big fish.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The high-powered task force—constituted to retrieve ill-gotten wealth stashed abroad—has decided to target Switzerland, UK and UAE in the first phase.

The task force has expedited contacts with officials concerned of the aforementioned countries. At present, the high-powered task force is reviewing accords of Pakistan with other countries in this regard.

The task force will share list of culprits possessing ill-gotten wealth with respective countries once legislation is finalized in this regard. Meanwhile, work on enforcing an anti-corruption rule—which offers 20pc of the looted wealth to the informers—in this regard is underway.

The Khan-led federal government is also mulling over to lodge legal proceedings against top 100 big fish of the country. The list includes prominent politicians, industrialists and bureaucrats among others.

The firebrand cricketer-turned-politician—now prime minister of Pakistan—had made recovery of looted wealth one of the top agenda of his election’s manifesto and campaign. Khan also took credit of landmark Panamagate verdict under which powerful Nawaz Sharif was forced to relinquish from premiership.
