Avenfield reference: Safdar absconds as NAB team heads for arrest

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Capt retd) Safdar has moved to an undisclosed location as National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) investigation team heads towards Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to arrest him.

Safdar has been convicted in Avenfield reference along with his wife Maryam Nawaz and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif.

As per details garnered, the arrest warrants for Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt (retd) Safdar have been obtained from the accountability court. 

NAB has made contacts with interim set up of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for seeking help in apprehension of Safdar, sources added. 


Captain (r) Safdar s name included in blacklist


Name of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar on Saturday has been included in blacklist after Avenfield reference verdict.

According to details, the step was taken after interior ministry recommended to put names of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain (r) Safdar on Exit Control List (ECL).

On July 6, accountability court jailed former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Muhammad Safdar for 10, 7 and 1 year respectively.

Announcing verdict judge, Muhammad Bashir ruled that the Avenfield apartments of the Sharif family shall be seized by the federal government.

The judge while awarding 10 years imprisonment to Nawaz Sharif also imposed an eight million pound (Rs1.2billion) fine, while a fine of two million pound (Rs322 million) has been imposed on his daughter Maryam Nawaz .

The court also issued permanent arrest warrants of ex-PM’s sons Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz.
