Those who serve public must not be dragged into courts: PM

The premier said that the masses will give its decision in the upcoming general elections in July.

MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Friday while declaring the disqualification of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif said that dragging those who serve publicy tirelessly must come to an end.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of first unit of Neelum-Jhelum Hydroelectric Project (NJHP) in Muzaffarabad on Friday, he said that those who serve the country selflessly were sent packing, adding that the Supreme Court announced another decision.

The premier said that the masses will give its decision in the upcoming general elections in July, adding that the decision of people would accepted.

Abbasi went on to say that due to the incompetence of the previous governments, the cost of Neelum-Jehlum project increased thrice. Only 10 percent work was completed on the project in 2013, he added.

He said that ex-PM Nawaz Sharif was asked to shut the project but he took it as a challenge and decided to complete the project. “This project is an example of the China-Pakistan friendship and it would help eliminate load shedding in the country.”

The prime minister said that the project will generate 5.15 billion units of electricity annually besides an annual revenue of about 55 billion rupees. As many as four thousand and five hundred people will get employment in the project.

Abbasi further said that the government had to face different technical and financial challenges to execute the project; however, they were successfully overcome, and the project today became a reality.
