The government has agreed to bring recommendations of Raja Zafarul Haq committee to light

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government has agreed on Monday to make recommendations of Raja Zafarul Haq committee public regarding the deadlock between rightist protesters and the government in Islamabad.

A delegation of the government led by interior minister Ahsan Iqbal convened a meeting with clerics belonging to different schools of thought and while briefing the media afterwards, it was told that the government has agreed to take action against the official responsible for controversial changes in Elections Act 2017.

The government has agreed today to hold the official ‘responsible’ for the controversial ‘mistake’ in Elections Act 2017 amendment accountable for his action.

Reportedly, the government has agreed to bring recommendations of Raja Zafarul Haq committee to light. The meeting also agreed that a committee be formed that would be tasked to hold talks with the protesting bodies.

Sunni Tehreek and Tehreek Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah, two right-wing groups camped in outskirts of Islamabad late October against the amendment in the Elections Act 2017 that was reversed by the government in the following days.

Before delegation of the government met with clerics in Islamabad today, interior minister held talks with representatives of the protesting bodies in Islamabad but the sitting concluded indecisively and the deadlock persists.

It should be mentioned here that railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said that Zahid Hamid would not tender his resignation and that the government would not succumb to the pressure.
