Nisar's reaction came in a day after Musharraf conversed with Dunya News

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said on Tuesday that he had made it clear to aides of former dictator Pervez Musharraf that he would never deceive leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif.

Nisar’s reaction came in a day after Musharraf conversed with analyst Kamran Shahid in Dunya News programme ‘On The Front’.

The minister denied having been offered premiership during the dictator’s tenure. He said that he had made it clear to General Mehmood that he was not going to deceive Nawaz Sharif.

Reportedly, Nisar telephoned the anchorperson today to clear the impression that the programme could have given to the viewers yesterday that he was offered premiership. During the conversation, the minister said that he was paid a visit by General Mehmood in 1999 after Musharraf had toppled Nawaz Sharif’s government.

Before he could begin, Nisar said that he clarified him that he would not deceive Nawaz Sharif, he would not give a statement in favour of the dictator and he would not join any other political group.

Nisar said that the army official asked him if he meant that he would not deceive the toppled premier who had deceived him.

However, the interior minister said that he would not be able to live with his conscience if he deceives his leader.

Earlier today sources privy to Roznama Dunya reported that finance minister Ishaq Dar convened a long sitting with the federal minister in Punjab House in the federal capital and assured him that his concerns would be addressed by the top leadership at the earlier.

The meeting today came in after Chaudhry Nisar was to hold a press conference yesterday that was termed key by political analysts as it was expected of him to public the reservations he has over decisions take by the premier.

However, in wake of suicide attack in Lahore on Monday that claimed 26 lives and left over 50 wounded, Nisar held commenting on Panama Papers case and refrained from indulging in disclosure of any sorts as claimed by several reports.

Nisar condemned the attack and asserted that he would soon address a press conference regarding the matter.
