Rs 50 coin to be issued in memory of Edhi

The commemorative coin is to be issued on March 31st

(Web Desk) – State Bank of Pakistan is poised to issue Rs 50 coin on March 31st in commemoration of late Abdul Sattar Edhi.



The state bank had decided over the issuance in a cabinet meeting held on July 15, 2016, around a week after the man had passed away.

According to the SBP, the coin is to be launched keeping in view the contributions of late Edhi to humanity.

The side B of the coin will have a side portrait of Edhi. 1928 to 2016, Edhi’s life span is inscribed on the same side as well. On the side A, the coin has a crescent with two blades of wheat crossed into each other.

In between the springs of wheat and the crescent, ‘2016’ is inscribed, the year when Abdul Sattar Edhi breathed his last.

The Rs 50 coin will be available at the exchange counters of all field offices of the State Bank across Pakistan.
