MQM chief's portraits removed from Nine-Zero, offices in various cities

KARACHI (Dunya News) – A wave of change was seen in Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) stronghold as unidentified individuals removed and tore apart portraits of MQM chief from outside Nine-Zero – the party’s headquarters in Pakistan along with several other offices in various cities including Hyderabad.

According to details, the huge portraits were removed from outside the Mukka Chowk and other offices across Karachi. The authorities have also given ultimatum to remove illegal offices as well.

The cities from where the portraits have been removed include Hyderabad, Sukkur and Mirpur Khas among other cities of interior Sindh.

In a latest blow to MQM and its chief in the aftermath of chanting anti-Pakistan slogans that led to attacks on TV channels, unidentified individuals have removed every trace of MQM chief’s portrait from outside party’s key offices.

In Hyderabad, the portraits were completely removed in Latifabad number 7, 8 and 9 in a manner that no trace of posters with party chief’s face was to be found.

In Mirpur Khas, party flags and portraits of MQM chief were removed from outside the sector offices 7 and 8. The party flags were also removed in Mirpur Azad Kashmir where offices and political activities have also ended.

Meanwhile the law enforcement institutions in Karachi have decided to take down MQM offices built on illegally occupied land of recreational spots, educational institutions and other public property.

A 3-day ultimatum has also been given in this regard. The sources said that the decision will also affect Khurshid Begum Memorial Hall built on the land of a recreational park.

Reportedly, the construction in Lal Qila Ground and transport offices are also illegal.
