KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least two people including a woman have died while 11 others sustained injuries in different road accidents in Karachi today (Wednesday).

A speeding passenger bus faced a road mishap near Nullah stop in New Karachi. The accident left as many as six people wounded who were taken to the hospital where the woman succumbed to the injuries.

According to police, the bus collided with Nullah’s boundary wall and fell into it.

Separately in Steel Town, a crash between truck and ambulance occurred that claimed one life and hurt six others. The security personnel stated that the incident took place due to negligence of ambulance driver.

Earlier, at least two people had died while more than 20 sustained injuries as several cars collided due to fog on Motorway near Kala Shah Kaku Interchange.

The pile-up was blamed on poor visibility caused by a thick layer of smoke emanating from nearby areas, which has killed as many as two people.

Deadly accidents are common on roads across Pakistan due to bad infrastructure and rampant disregard of traffic laws.

Over 9,000 road accidents are reported to the police every year, killing on average around 5,000 people, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
