Locals have built multi-storey buildings violating the designs given by the administration

MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) – Violation of building codes which were stressed after 2005 quake in Azad Kashmir continues as nearly 6,000 private and government installments have been repaired instead of abandonment.

The government had provided specific designs and building codes for quake-vulnerable areas in Azad Kashmir. The designs permit two-storey buildings or less whereas the rule is being violated in Muzaffarabad City Development Authority’s (CDA) precincts due to slackness of the system.

The project aimed at building safer residential facilities for victims living in red zone areas has not been completed ten years after the deadly quake.

The locals have built multi-storey buildings in quake-vulnerable areas while the administration is too busy to take notice of the matter.
