40 percent of electricity is produced by burning oil, said Imran Khan

LOWER DIR (Dunya News) – Groundbreaking ceremony of a 40.8 Megawatt (MW) hydroelectric power station was carried out on Saturday in Lower Dir. Imran Khan said that due to central government’s wrong policies 40 percent of country’s electricity is being produced by burning furnace oil, reported Dunya News.

Talking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the hydroelectric power station, Imran Khan said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government possesses ability to produce electricity yet it faces shortage of funds to do so.

Criticizing government’s policy, he said that 40 percent of electricity is produced by oil and whenever prices of oil go up, a hike in electricity prices takes place.

Imran Khan said that electricity worth thousands of MW are being produced from water reservoirs.

Earlier, groundbreaking ceremony of 40.8 MW Kotopon power station was done in Lower Dir on which an estimated 14 billion rupees will be spent.
