Gas supply to the country's most economically important province was disrupted after the blasts.

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Different cities in Punjab including Lahore are facing gas shortage after explosions simultaneously hit three gas pipelines in Rahim Yar Khan.

Unknown miscreants blew up three gas pipelines to Punjab province overnight, said Ayub Bajwa, the emergency manager on duty for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited in the capital of Islamabad.

Punjab is Pakistan s most populous and wealthy province and the power base of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Most of the province is now without gas.

The pipelines are large — 24, 18 and 16 inches in diameter. It will take at least two days to repair them, Bajwa said.

The gas supply to Lahore, Rahim Yar Khan and Faisalabad has been badly disrupted.

Low gas pressure has been reported in different areas of Lahore including Johar Town, Township, Wapda Town, Gulberg, Multan Road, Ferozpur Road, Shalimar, Iqbal Town, Shad Bagh, and Dharam Pura.

Meanwhile, gas supply to the industries was also suspended due to shortage.
