Colourful Sindh Festival opens at Mohenjodaro
The festival consists of 18 events and will last 15 days.
MOHENJODARO (Dunya News): Sindh Festival to highlight cultural heritage at an international level has officially begin with a lavish opening ceremony in Mohenjodaro.
The participants consist of approximately 500 notable personalities including former President Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, Asifa Bhutto Zardari, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Hina Rabbani Khar, provincial ministers and various leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party.
An 80 feet wide stage is set with the historical stupa in the background.
Various historical symbols are illuminated extravagantly. Prior to the ceremony, Bilawal Bhutto and Qaim Ali Shah oversaw the arrangements and made the final checks.
Talking to media, Bilawal said that the purpose of Sindh Festival is to promote Sindh’s cultural heritage and that this festival is a historic and revolutionary step. Strict security measures have been taken for the occasion.
