War against terrorism to be taken to its logical end: President Mamnoon
President Mamnoon Hussain says the government wants peace in the region.
BHURBAN (Web Desk) - President Mamnoon Hussain says Pakistan has offered countless sacrifices in fight against terrorism and extremism.
Addressing South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA s) sixth National Conference in Bhurban on Sunday‚ he said despite countless sacrifices on economic and public fronts‚ Pakistani nation has shown strength of mind.
Mamnoon Hussain said the government will take it war against terrorism to its logical conclusion in line with aspirations of the people.
He said Pakistan wants peace in the region‚ to ensure development and prosperity of the people.
Referring to performance of the government‚ Mamnoon Hussain said it is moving forward towards positive dimension on two fronts‚ to overcome energy crisis and revive the economy.
The President said a number of projects have been undertaken to generate electricity to meets growing needs.
He said besides Diamir Bhasha Dam‚ it has been decided to immediately launch construction work on Dasu Dam which will generate 4500 MW electricity.
He hoped that people would see a visible change in next two to three years in energy and economy sectors.
President Mamnoon Hussain said the government believes in freedom of expression and free press because no society can make progress without free media and access to information.
He urged media to play its vital role in guiding people towards right direction and guarding national interests.
The President said a responsible government cannot ensure transparency and accountability‚ without independent‚ functioning and responsible media.
