'Govt provides cooked figures about CNG sector'
APCNGA president says powerful lobbies responsible for the CNG crisis.
ISLAMABAD (Online) - Chairman of Supreme Council of All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA), Ghayas Abdullah Paracha on Thursday said that the government is providing cooked figures to misguide masses on the behest of influential lobbies.
In a statement issued here, he without mentioning any name said that the lobbies had not only overburdened the public exchequer but also brought the CNG sector on the verge of collapse.
Paracha mentioned that by ending gas loadshedding for CNG government could save Rs 600 billion annually.
Ghayas Paracha said that CNG sector is using six per cent of the total national output of 4200 mmcfd but at the same time it is contributing Rs 32 billion per year as subsidy provided by the government to power, fertilizer and industrial sector, he added.
The Chairman APCNGA disclosed that CNG sector is being run on optimum efficiency level while the private power plants can achieve 29 per cent efficiency at best.
While condemning the policies of past government, he reminded that former government pushed CNG sector to bankruptcy to please lobbies and ensure personal welfare.
