PCB decides to suspend chief selector, head coach, captain

LAHORE (Web Desk) - Keeping in view the consistent poor performance of national team in Asia Cup and World Twenty20, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday has decided to dismiss the head coach Waqar Younis, chief selector Haroon Rasheed and captain of Twenty20 Shahid Afridi.

Sources told that PCB management is not satisfied with the duties of head coach, chief selector and T20 captain. They said that the team’s consistent poor play in important tournaments has shattered the cricket fans’ hopes.

Former cricketer Ramiz Raja and star bowler Wasim Akram have been given the task to find new coach for team whereas the government has also directed to launch probe into Pakistan’s defeat.

Pakistan team had constantly shown irresponsible performance in Asia Cup and were pulled out of the tournament after facing humiliating defeat against Bangladesh.

Pakistan recovered from 28-4 to post 129-7, before Bangladesh reached a winning total of 131-5 in 19.1 overs.

Pakistan only managed to win two matches in the Asia Cup.

Talking about the second mega event World Twenty20 , Pakistan were badly routed by old-rival India at Eden Gardens and New Zealand at Mohali.

Shahid Afridi had also hinted towards his retirement, saying the next match may be the last of his career.

In a talk after the World T20 match against New Zealand, Afridi said: “The next match may be the last of my career.
