Shahid Afridi gets furious over 'captaincy failure' question

"I have always expected that you will ask such cheap question," Afridi said.

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s Twenty20 skipper Shahid Afridi got angry on a reporter’s question regarding Pakistan’s poor performance in the recent T20 matches under his captaincy, Dunya News reported.

The reporter asked: "Team lost majority T20s under your captaincy, what is your plan for T20 world cup?"

Agitated Afridi replied: “I have always expected that you will ask such cheap question.”

Talking to media in Lahore, Shahid Afridi said that no major changes are expected for the World T20 as the event is very close. Same team will play till the T20 world cup.

Pakistani team is better in every format, he added.

To a question regarding Muhammad Amir, Afridi said that every person commits mistake in his life, Amir spoke the truth and completed his trial.

He said other options are available if Amir fails to get his New Zealand visa. The skipper said that pacer Muhammad Irfan has not been completely excluded from the team, his name exists in the 20-man squad. 


UPCOMING EVENTS


Pakistan, the 2009 champions are placed in Group 2 of the Super Ten round in the sixth edition of the World Twenty20 to be held from March 8 - April 3 2016, along with hosts India, Australia, New Zealand, and a yet to be decided qualifier.

Their second match will be against India, a team they have never beaten in either a traditional one-day World Cup or the newer World Twenty20.

Pakistan lost to India in both the group round and final of the inaugural World Twenty20 in 2007 and then in two subsequent tournaments.

They have also lost to India every time they have faced them in six World Cups.

Pakistan‘s recent form does not augur well. In November 2015, they lost to England 3-0 in a Twenty20 series in the United Arab Emirates, slipping to six in the rankings.

Pakistan have three Twenty20 matches on their tour of New Zealand this month before featuring in the six-nation Asia Cup Twenty20 in Bangladesh in February.
