ICC has lifted the ban but PCB has not come up with a policy as yet, policy expected till Wednesday

LAHORE: (Daily Dunya) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still unsure about the future of international cricketers Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif. Although International Cricket Council (ICC) has clarified in its letter to the PCB that the ban has been lifted yet the final policy has not yet been made by the PCB and Chairman PCB Shehryar Khan says that the policy statement will be given in a day or two, reported Daily Dunya.

No positive statement has yet been given by PCB over the future of Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif after ICC’s clearance. Both the players are desperate to be allowed to play domestic cricket after lifting of the 5-year ban in spot-fixing case and have been receiving offers from various institutions but they are still waiting for PCB’s decision.

On the other hand, Chairman ICC Zaheer Abbas told media on Monday that ICC has allowed these players to play from Spetember 2 but now it is up to PCB whether they’d allow the two players to play or not.

Talking to Daily Dunya on the matter, Chairman PCB said that PCB is examining the situation and will devise a policy within a day or two.

However, well-informer sources told Daily Dunya that PCB is under pressure after the permission by ICC to both the players due to which PCB will most probably allow Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif to play domestic cricket. But the players will have to follow the PCB’s rehabilitation program upon which both of them have already agreed.
