 ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) –Despite being hit by expensive electricity, power outages, and unannounced load shedding the people miseries of people are expected to aggravate once again due to expected increase in electricity demand from next month.

According to sources, the weather has not reached extreme yet, which is why the demand for electricity in April is around 4,000 megawatts. Last year in April, the demand for electricity was more than 4,700 megawatts.

According to the power sector sources, in the next few days, the intensity of the heat will increase, so will the demand of electricity. It is possible that by June and July, the demand for electricity by LESCO will reach upto 6,000 megawatts, which will once again lead to uncontrollable load shedding.

Last year in June and July, LESCO faced a shortage of more than 1,000 megawatts, which led to load shedding for 6 to 7 hours meanwhile.

Sources also expressed concerns about difficulties in uninterrupted electricity supply to thickly populated areas due to the non-upgradation of transformers.
