PIA to close flights to Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Leads

KARACHI (Web Desk) ¬ PIA has decided to slash down flights and offices in US, Australia and other European countries due to shortage of planes and persistently growing deficit.

 

As per PIA, the ever increasing deficit of national airlines has swelled beyond 180 billion rupees.

 

Reports said the decision to suspend flights to other countries has been taken in a high level meeting.

 

Sources said PIA would shut its offices and flights to Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Leads by the middle of September this year.

 

Sources said this is peak season of passengers and overseas Pakistanis have come to home in large number, therefore, the decision to close down the offices in these cities will be taken in the middle of this September to avoid any inconvenience.

 

PIA offices at Chicago, Glasgow and Sidney will be closed down in the month September.

 

Confirming the reports on closure of offices in these cities PIA spokesperson said this decision has been taken to rein in deficit and for want of planes.

 

The loss incurring stations will be shut and number of flights will be increased for profit making routes including Dubai, UAE, Doha and Jeddah.

 

PIA spokesman said the closure of offices in other counties is a temporary move and the flights will be revived on the closed routes as soon as situation is normalized.

 

PIA has also decided to scale down the posting of employees and their strength at the stations outside the country to curtail administrative expenses.
