Pak rice, wheat, mangoes popular in Malaysia

ICCI President has highlighted demand of Pak agricultural products in Malaysian markets.

 

KAULA LUMPUR (Online) - While leading a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) to National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM), Zafar Bakhtawari also stressed that there was a dire need to increase export of Pakistani products to Malaysia, which would further improve bilateral trade relations between two countries.

 

During his meeting with president NCCIM Ali Al-Atas, president ICCI Bakhtawari cited Pakistan’s free trade agreement (FTA) with 3 countries, Malaysia, China and Sri Lanka, amongst which Malaysia was the first Muslim country to have signed FTA with Pakistan, reflecting Malaysia’s importance for Pakistan.


He also stressed that Malaysia should also help Pakistan in becoming full-dialogue partner in ASEAN regional bloc, while also calling on the Malaysian business community to take advantage of the vast Pakistani market and explore investment opportunities in agriculture, construction, livestock and dairy, energy, education, IT and the Halal industry sectors.

 

Bakhtawari also expounded the importance of organizing joint cultural events ; an option which could be used to bring the people of both nations closer to each other, as well as exploit untapped bilateral trade and investment potential in both countries.

 

The ICCI president also invited President of National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia to attend ASEAN Capital Chambers Conference in Islamabad, which would be organized by ICCI with the aim to promote mutually beneficial relation between Pakistan and ASEAN member states.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Ali Al-Atas, President of National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia said that business community of Pakistan should establish a base in Malaysia for attaining maximum trade benefits in ASEAN countries that would not only help in boosting trade activities but also prove beneficial for introducing Pakistani products in ASEAN countries.

 

Accepting the invitation of President of ICCI to attend ASEAN Capital Chambers Conference in Islamabad, he exhorted Pakistani business community to actively participate in international conventions scheduled to be held in Malaysia in forthcoming months and also urged Pakistani businessmen to be more participative in terms of business activities in Malaysia to compete with other competitive markets.

 

Mr. Munawar Mughal, former President and Chairman Expo Committee ICCI appreciated the organizers of Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) Expo and expressed the desire to hold such an expo in Pakistan as well which would provide the opportunity to businessmen of both the countries to showcase their products.
