Sweden to help in energy, agriculture, waste management
A Swedish delegation discussed cooperation in different fields including energy and agriculture.
LAHORE (Online) - A five member Swedish delegation, lead by Lars-Hjalmar Wide, Ambassador of Sweden to Pakistan, visited the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT).
The delegation including Ms Charlotte Kalin, CEO, Chamber Trade Sweden, Yawar Mian, Capital Business Sweden/CSR Pakistan, Jonas Rottorp, Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL) and Johan Bergkvist, Second Secretary, Embassy of Sweden held talks with PBIT team lead by Javed Akbar, Chief Executive Office, regarding cooperation in various sectors especially energy, agriculture and waste management.
The Swedish delegates are in Pakistan to conduct seminars in Lahore and Sialkot chambers of commerce & industry to present Case Studies of key Swedish Greentech expertise areas, successful Greentech solutions in Sweden and how Swedish technologies have benefited other countries.
Charlotte Kalin, CEO, Chamber Trade Sweden, who is in Pakistan as a follow up visit of her earlier 2010 visit, to oversee forward cooperation in energy sector between Pakistan & Sweden, shared the fact that most global renewable companies are focusing on investing in India and China; while it was her organization’s effort to divert similar Swedish companies to invest in Pakistan.
Javed Akbar, CEO, (PBIT) also highlighted the massive existent investment opportunities in the energy sector including renewable resources especially waste to energy and solar.
He also briefed the Swedish delegation about the initiatives taken by the Punjab Government to promote foreign investment in the province. Mr Jonas Rottorp representing the Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL) offered to solicit interest of Swedish energy companies for investment in the renewable energy sector.
