China: 10 killed, 33 injured as tourist coach overturns

At least 10 people killed and 33 injured as a tourist coach overturned on a highway in China.

The accident happened at about 16:00 on the highway near Longguan Village, Qingping Town in Yongshun County, when the 55-seat bus carrying 49 people overturned, the county government said in a statement.The injured people were rushed to the Zhangjiajie Peoples Hospital and Zhangjiajie Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, the statement said.The tourist coach carrying Hubei license plate was coming from Zhangjiajie scenic area and heading for the ancient county of Fenghuang, in northwestern Hunan, one tourist on the bus said.Most of the tourists on bus were senior citizens from various parts of China. The traffic at the accident site was resumed at around 20:30 Sunday evening.The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
