Japan: Mass wedding in double-disaster-hit Fukushima

A group wedding ceremony was held at a church in Nasu city for 10 couples from Fukushima.

Most of the couples had had their wedding ceremonies postponed due to the 9.0-magnitude earthquake and ensuing tsunami on March 11, which left northeast Japan with heavy casualties and great economic loss.Both the newly-weds and their relatives had suffered a lot from the pain of seeing their loved ones perished and houses destroyed. Before the wedding ceremony, all the participants stood in silent tribute for the victims in the historic disaster.This is the fifth group wedding sponsored by the All Japan Bridal Association for couples from areas hit by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. The association has so far sponsored 50 couples from the disaster-hit areas.
