NZ PM Jacinda Ardern receives death threats on social media
The account loaded with anti-Islamic, white supremacist hate speech was suspended immediately.
CHRISTCHURCH (Web Desk) – New Zealand Prime Minister (PM) Jacinda Ardern has received death threats on social media over her empathy following attacks on Christchurch mosques.
According to Newshub, an image of a gun was sent to Ardern two days ago with the caption, "you are next" while another was posted to both the Prime Minister and police saying, "next it’s you".
PM Office spokesperson said the social media company "seems to have algorithms for everything else and they owe the public a duty of care".
However, the Twitter account loaded with anti-Islamic, white supremacist hate speech was suspended afterwards.
