Peru: Garcia starts exhibition of ancient Incan artifacts

Peruvian President Alan Garcia opened an exhibition of ancient Incan artifacts returned to Peru from Yale University.This is the first time these Incan artifacts have been seen by the Peruvian people almost 100 years after their unauthorised removal. Yale University intends to return 46,000 pieces to Peru and this shipment of 361 objects is the first.The American school, which took possession of the artifacts from US explorer Hiram Bingham, says it will return all the artifacts by 2012.Ceramics, jewelry and bones are among the collection, which were taken from the famed Incan city of Machu Picchu after Bingham discovered the citadel in 1911.
