Summary 26-year-old Rehan Munir's hunt for housing caused a Facebook storm in New York
(Web Desk) - For many people looking for an apartment in New York City is nothing short of a challenge. However, for Rehan Munir, a 26-year-old Pakistani, the hunt turned into quite an adventure drawing much unexpected attention.
Munir experienced "quite the ride" when he posted online that he was looking for a fully furnished room to rent in Manhattan while doing a rotation at a hospital in New York .
“Hello everyone!” he wrote. “I’m Rehan and I’m looking to rent a furnished room on the Upper East Side, Upper West Side or Midtown Manhattan.” The post goes on to add: “I’m professional, friendly and easy to live with. Most of all, cleanliness is of utmost priority to me. Please let me know if you have any leads.”
Then he signed off with a couple of selfies.

When he woke in the morning it was to a Facebook page with more than 600 likes on the post, flooded with comments. While some of the comments were related to housing most of them came from women commenting on his "good looks".
“You can move in with me,” Liz Shirshikova wrote quickly after spotting the post. Nohely Haro asked: “Can I shadow you?”
Drew Reidenbach said “Marry me?”. Nadlie Chino said “He’s soooo HOT !!! Damn I wish I had a room to rent to him. lol”

Comments from the post were picked up by others some of whom criticized the women for indecently harassing a guy who was simply trying to find a place to live.
“Damn, y’all, you would be going crazy right now if this was a bunch of men talking this way about an attractive woman. Dude just wants an apartment,” Rich Gilberto said.
“When did this become a dating app? I feel like half of y’all saw his photo and started swiping right based on habit,” Linwood Young said.
Munir, who used to model for Hush Puppies Pakistan, told the Huffington Post that he did not expect his post to cause such a debacle and that the response was “overwhelming,” “I wrote it and the next day I wake up and I see my post has been inundated with messages and it’s reached a number of blogs locally and internationally. I found it hilarious! The internet is really an unpredictable place,” Munir told to the Huffington Post.
Rooms in New York can be difficult to find by conventional means which is why many people use social media and housing apps to find apartments.
