BEIJING (Dunya News) -- United States (US) Secretary of State John Kerry admitted the War on Iraq was a mistake, during an interview given to a Chinese News Agency. He further affirmed that America is putting a great deal of effort in order to make the people of Iraq self-sufficient. Last year he was seen claiming to have opposed George W. Bush’s decision to declare the war.

The attack on Iraq that was initiated more than a decade ago is now being considered a mistake by some of United States’ key officials. This ‘mistake’ of US has caused massive loss of lives and commodities in addition to rendering myriads of people homeless. Moreover he stated that US and Iraq are still struggling through the aftermaths of the war.

America on the other hand has deployed 200 more soldiers in order to improve the security of its embassy along with other installations in Iraq. With the additional armed aid, the troops have now mounted to a figure of 800 soldiers.

Here it’s significant to mention that US had called war on Iraq on the pretext of chemical weaponry possession in year 2003. In a joint concern put forward regarding the possession of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) posing a threat to their security in the United Nations Security Council. The invasion of Iraq being the first phase was followed by the US forces reaction to reluctance shown by the insurgents in Iraq. The armed conflict caused thousands of fatalities.

The monitoring teams found no evidence of the alleged program and later it was revealed that Iraq had shut its nuclear program back in 1991. Apprehensive that Iraq intends to resume the mission once the sanctions are lifted was considered to be a reason enough to call on war.
