Dr. Aafias trial: Statements of witnesses contradict
During the second day of Dr.Aafia Siddiquis trial, there was a contradiction between the statements of prosecution witnesses. Afghan witness revealed that US soldier also tried to kill Dr. Aafia; where as once again she refused to have been involved in any conspiracy against the US.An interpreter says he wrestled away an Army rifle from a US trained Pakistani scientist before she could kill anyone during a chaotic confrontation in Afghanistan in 2008. Ahmad Gul, an Afghan witness testified at the attempted murder trial of Aafia Siddiqui. She's accused of shooting at two Americans trying to interview her in Afghanistan. Gul told a Manhattan jury that after Siddiqui picked up the unattended weapon, he lunged at her. He said two shots went off as the pair struggled, and the soldier who lost the rifle shot her in the stomach. During this, an argument was also raised between Afghan and US soldiers present in the court. The judge Richard Berman asked Dr. Aafia whether she is able to understand the ongoing trial, in response to which she said that she understands English. Dr. Aafia Siddiqui also apologized upon her yesterdays behavior inside the courtroom.
