Jeremy Forrest was remanded Thursday after appearing in court charged with abducting a girl.

Forrest, who is 30 and married, was led into Eastbourne Magistrates Court in Sussex, southeast England, in handcuffs the day after he was extradited to Britain from the French city of Bordeaux.He was charged with child abduction by British police after spending eight days in France with the teenager, sparking a Europe-wide search.A European Arrest Warrant was issued for Forrest and he and the girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, were found in Bordeaux on September 28.Forrest, an amateur musician, spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address.He wore a grey jumper and his black hair was swept to one side.His lawyer did not make an application for bail.Forrest was remanded in custody by magistrate Nick Letherby and will appear in the same court again via video-link on October 17.He did not contest the extradition from France and his lawyer has said he is keen for the full story of the elopement to be told.
