The death of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajshekhera Reddy and four others has been confirmed and the bodies found after his missing chopper was located on top of a hill, 46 miles east of the town of Kurnool. According to the Indian media, CM and others died after their chopper crash-landed about 40 nautical miles east of the Kurnool mountainous area. Reddys aircraft went missing in bad weather an hour after taking off from the state capital, Hyderabad, at 8:35 a.m. local time yesterday as he headed to an official function in Chittoor district along with his Secretary and Chief Security Officer. Andhra Pradesh is among 11 of 28 states where Maoist guerrillas, known as Naxalites, are active and there is a Fear that nixel rebels have crashed the chopper. Congress president Sonia Gandhi is scheduled to leave for Hyderabad shortly. Reddy was affiliated to the ruling party Congress and was considered a close aide of Sonia Gandhi.
