A dating website that was launched recently brought hacking and art together as the website allowed viewers to go through roughly 250,000 pictures extracted from Facebook.

Lovely-faces.com mined pictures from Facebook and categorized them in nationality, gender, funny, smug and climber. The creator of the website Paolo Cirio and Alessandro Ludovic listed as artists. In an online statement the creators of this lovely website said “Our mission was to give all these virtual identities a new shared place to expose themselves freely, breaking Facebooks constraints and boring social rules.” The pictures were automatically put in categories by using special facial recognition software that filtered images by expressions. After going through millions of picture, the creators put together a collection of smiles in an attempt to bring the people together. “We established a new website giving them justice and granting them the possibility of soon being face to face with anybody who is attracted by their facial expression and related data.”Worlds leading online social network, Facebook reacted to lovely-faces, saying that mining information violates their terms of service. They have started an investigation and vowed to take appropriate action.
