World Cup 2011: Security plan finalised for Pak-India match

Almost 2,200 police officers have been deployed for India-Pakistan semi-final World Cup match.

Pakistan and India will clash in the second semi-final of the cricket World Cup on March 30. The Indian and the Pakistani prime ministers will attend the match as chief guests. To avoid any security lapse, more than 2,200 trained security personnel have been deployed who will be working under five superintendent police officers at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali, Chandigarh, in India. In addition, anti-aircraft guns have been set up at the stadium for extra security. National Security Guards (NSG) will continuously inspect the security arrangement in the area. The police and paramilitary forces will be in-charge of the security of the Indian and Pakistani cricket teams. The forces will ensure safety of the teams staying at the Taj Hotel, 12 kilometres from the stadium and will also escort the team to the practice session and the semi-final match.Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, said that CCTV cameras, para military forces, bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs would also be in place for Wednesdays match. Security personnel have been deployed on the roofs of high rise building from the hotel to the stadium while the situation will be monitored with 150 CCTV cameras.
