Lahore: Two years completed after Sri Lankan teams attack

It has been two years now since Sri Lankan cricket team was attacked by terrorists in Lahore. The suspects involved in this incident have been traced down but history of international games in Pakistan has completely changed.

The prospect of international games in Pakistan simply toppled over when on 3rd March 2009; a terror attack was carried out on the Sri Lankan cricket team. The team was going to Gaddafi stadium for its second day’s play of second test match. The Sri Lankan team had reached Liberty roundabout, when terrorists intercepted their bus and opened fire upon the whole convoy. During this attack, 10 people including 6 Sri Lankan players got injured in this attack while 7 others were killed. The daring driver of Sri Lankan bus managed to take the players to the Gaddafi stadium.After this terror attack on Sri Lankan team, Pakistan could not host any of the ICC World Cup 2011 and all the matches were scheduled in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
