World Cup 2011: Sri Lankan president bans local World Cup song

The preparations for the cricket world cup in Sri Lanka are at an all time high. Despite that, the Sri Lankan president has banned a local world cup song because it had derogatory lyrics about the Kangaroos and Kiwis.

In Sri Lanka, a local band composed a song in their local Tamil and Sri Lankan language in support of their cricket team in the World Cup. The lyrics of the songs had a few derogatory statements which would have hurt the feeling of the Australian and New Zealand cricket team.Being broadcasted on the local radio stations and the television, the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa decided to ban the song. The Sri Lankan cricket board has also prohibited the people to bring banners, play cards and poster in the cricket stadiums
