Vancouver: Colorful Opening Ceremonies of Winter Olympics
The Opening Ceremony at began at BC Place stadium before an estimated 60,000 people inside the stadium. Several thousands of lights lit the sky above the stadium. Last winter Olympics were held at Alberta, Canada.Pakistan is participating for the first time in the Winter Olympics. 82 national athletes are amongst 2,500 athletes participating in the event. Muhammad Abbas from Pakistan Air force would take part in the skiing competition. Indian athletes have also arrived in Vancouver to take part in the event. The event would end on February 28.Several hundred protesters demonstrated against the Olympics in Vancouver. The protesters said that there is no point to waste billions of dollars in this era of recession and poverty on the Olympics.
