Dunya News has received footaged of police firing on the demonstration of Attaabad Lake affectees.

The Attaabad Lake affectees were demonstrating in favour of their demands on the occasion of Gilgit-Baltistan CM’s visit to Hunza-Nagar on August 11.The protesters were about to disperse due to the rain when the police force, led by DSP, suddenly attacked them and started baton-charge and then opened straight firing on the peaceful demonstrators in which a man including his son were killed.The cameraman of Dunya News was also injured during the incident but his camera footage exposed the police brutality. The footage clearly shows that 25-year-old Sher Afzal, a participant of the protest, was shot dead by the police. He was not involved in any terrorist activity but became victim of the police brutality.Another victim of the police was Afzal’s father Sherullah who was shot from a close distance. The police officials left him on the scene and he also succumbed to injuries. The Provincial Law Minster admitted police mistake and assured to provide justice.According to the public circles, the officials involved in firing should also be punished like the accused of Sarfraz Shah murder case.
