Sindhi nationalist parties have called the strike against local government systems restoration.

The Sindhi nationalist parties have called strike throughout the province against the abolition, after a brief reintroduction, of the commissionerate system in the province.A complete shutter down is being observed in Tharparkar, Shorkot, Obaro, Ghotki, Moro, Khanpurmahar, Kanri, Samaro, Jacobabad, Mehrabpur and Omarkot. Two people have been injured in Khanpurmahar when a nationalist parties activists forcefully tried to close some shops.Activists of Sindh Nationalist parties – Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), Jeay Sindh Tahreek, Sindh United Party, Sindh National Front, Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party and Awami Tehreek are carrying out rallies in various cities of Sindh. They chanted slogans against the government and the restoration of the Local Government Ordinance 2001.The sequence of events made it quite clear that the ruling PPP did not want the system of elected nazims and replace it with the old commissionerate system. However, when the MQM let its provincial governor return to duty, the PPP had little hesitation in abolishing the commissionerate system. One aspect of the protests is the fact that the PPP could not prepare public opinion for its support, and another is that the measure is made only to gratify the MQM. Perhaps it was inevitable that it would find opposition in the ranks of those who oppose the MQM, or rather the Sindhi nationalist forces.
