Nankana Sahib: Baba Guru Nanak's 551st anniversary arrangements completed

NANKANA SAHIB (Dunya News) - Arrangements have been completed for the 551st birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj, the founder of the Sikh religion. The celebrations will end after the Nagar Kirtan procession on November 30, followed by the Bhog ritual at night.

According to details, various departments including Rescue, Health, Civil Defense, Abandoned Waqf Property Board and Police have made all arrangements for the 551st birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj, the spiritual leader of Sikhism in Nankana Sahib.

Sikh pilgrims from all over the world including USA, Australia, Germany, Canada and India participate in these events and perform their religious rites.

The Abandoned Waqf Property Board has made special arrangements for the accommodation, food and transport of the incoming Sikh pilgrims. The Sikh community in Nankana Sahib is eager to welcome Sikh pilgrims from abroad.

On this occasion, Sardar Janam Singh, Head Granthi of Gurdwara Janam Asthan, said that Sikh pilgrims coming to attend the birthday celebrations are advised to follow Coronavirus SOPs. And keep a distance of two feet from each other even in the procession of Nagar Kirtan.

"We also demand the United Nations to take notice of the Kartarpur corridor and allow Sikh pilgrims to attend the birthday celebrations," he said.

He said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan opened the corridor on the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak and gave it as a gift to the Sikh community while the Government of India has closed it. While the Government of India has closed it, the United Nations should ensure implementation of the agreement reached.

In terms of security, CCTV cameras have also been installed in seven gurdwaras in Nankana Sahib by the Abandoned Waqf Property Board. And other security personnel, including elite force, will perform their duties outside the gurdwaras.
