Mir Hasil Bizenjo laid to rest in Khuzdar

KHUZDAR (Dunya News) – National Party President Mir Hasil Bizenjo, who had passed away on Thursday, was laid to rest in his home town Khuzdar on Friday.

His funeral prayer was led by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Maulana Qamar-ud-Din.

The late national party president’s funeral prayers were attended by provincial ministers, former chief minister, members of National Assembly, senators and MPAs.

A large number of people including scholars, officials of various political parties and tribal elders also attended the funeral prayer.

The senior politician was buried alongside his father.

Bazenjo had died yesterday as he was under treatment for lung cancer in Karachi.

The leader, born on February 3 1958 in Khuzdar, Balochistan was the son of Mir Ghous Bakhsh Bizenjo, the first Governor of the Balochistan.

He got his primary education from Quetta in 1975, after which he moved to Karachi for higher studies. Bizenjo entered politics after the death of his father in 1989 and became part of the Pakistan National Party.

He took part in general elections for the first time in 1990 and was elected a member of the National Assembly on his party’s ticket. The leader also went behind bars several times during his political career.

In 2003, he joined a new political party, the National Party. He boycotted the 2008 general elections but was elected as Senator in 2009.

With the help of PML-N, the National Party came to power in Balochistan in 2013 and thus its leadership gained national attention with Mir Hasil Bizenjo becoming its President in 2014.


Senate, NA pay tribute


Earlier today, the Senate and National Assembly of Pakistan paid tribute to late Mir Hasil Bizenjo who – president of National Party – as Fateha was offered for the departed soul in both houses.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Sherry Rehman addressed the upper house of the parliament and shared the democratic journey with Mir Hasil Bizenjo. “He was a steadfast person who stood by justice and never misused money and state power,” she said.

“Mir Hasil Bizenjo’s name will be written in golden letters in history. He always supported democracy and fought against dictatorship. The National Party leader stood by his ideology till the end.”

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif addressed the NA and said he shared close relationship with the deceased. “Mir Hasil Bizenjo struggled for democracy his entire life. He was a non-violent and moderate-tempered leader. I pay tribute to him and request to adjourn the session in his respect and memory,” he said.

Let it be known that Mir Hasil Bizenjo had passed away on Thursday. He was a patient of lung cancer and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karachi.
