NICL case: SC issues contempt notices to 3 federal secretaries

The Supreme Court (SC) has issued contempt notices to three federal secretaries Principal Secretary to Prime Ministers, Khushnood Lashari, Federal Secretary Interior Qamaruz Zaman and Secretary Establishment Abdul Rauf.A three-member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry also took up the contempt of court case against FIA DG Malik Iqbal. Malik Iqbal had been charged with contempt of court for transferring Zafar Qureshi.The court asked the secretaries, why FIA additional DG Zafar Qureshi, who was an investigation officer in National Insurance Corporation Limited (NICL) scam, was transferred on verbal orders. The officials failed to satisfy the apex court on which the court issued them contempt notices.The court directed the secretaries to submit their replies by June 23 and postponed the verdict against Malik Iqbal until filing of the replies.
