Nawaz to chair CEC meeting of PML-N over Shahbaz's arrest today

Nawaz Sharif will chair the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting of PML-N in Lahore today.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif will chair the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting of his party in Lahore today (Monday).

The decision of calling the CEC meeting of the PML-N was taken during a meeting of the Sharif family at Jati Umra on Sunday to devise its future course of action in the wake of arrest of its party president Shahbaz Sharif.

As per details garnered, the Hamza Shahbaz and Salman Shahbaz met Nawaz Sharif at latter’s residence in Jati Umra. Sources privy to PML-N disclosed that PML-N supremo has decided to play an active role in the politics once again.

On the other hand, Hamza Shahbaz stated that PML-N would quash ‘fake mandate’ of Imran Khan by sweepings upcoming by-polls. He was addressing women convention in Lahore.

“Shahbaz Sharif saved billions in mega-projects. He was summoned in Saaf Pani scam [by National Accountability Bureau] and when nothing was found against him, the arrest was made in Ashiana Housing scam.

“After winning by-polls, PML-N will prove that countries are run through courage and vision, not through donations”.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in the Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme scam on Octover 5. The former chief minister was charged with awarding illegal contracts to his favorite firm.

Shahbaz was apprehended during his appearance before NAB in Saaf Pani Company scam. Sources told that three files were tabled before him.

The Bureau quizzed Sharif regarding a tender awarded to a private consultancy company for a survey of the Saaf Pani company.

The PML-N president had failed to satisfy the probing team of the bureau during the investigation and was ultimately arrested.

The anti-graft watchdog has claimed that the company did not conduct any kind of survey but nevertheless was provided a lucrative sum of Rs 1.5 billion.
