Sanaullah tells doctors to wait until budget to get salary raise

The minister asked the doctors to call off their strike for the dignity of their profession.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Monday that instead of issuing a notification, the government would increase doctors’ salaries in the coming budget.Talking to the media in the Allied Hospital in Faisalabad, the minister said that the doctors are disgracing their profession by neglecting patients. He denied that police were raiding the doctors’ houses and said that no doctors would be arrested.Meanwhile, the Islamabad Young Doctors Association (YDA) continued its protest and the outpatient departments and operation theatres in the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and Polyclinic Hospital remained closed. Islamabad YDA President Dr Sajid Abbas said that the health secretary had not assured them that their problems would be resolved.
