As the productivity of IPP’s has increased, electricity shortfall remained 1500 megawatt. The load shedding continues in urban areas for 5 hours, while for 8 hours in the rural areas.According to PEPCO officials, the actual requirement of electricity is 13,445 megawatts and production is 11,920 megawatts. PEPCP officials claim that production of electricity has increased due to better supply of gas and oil. However, by decreasing load shedding in industrial sector, the duration of load shedding in commercial and domestic sector has increased.
