ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountability court on Tuesday has resumed hearing of Avenfield reference against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members.

During the hearing headed by Justice Muhammad Bashir, Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar is recording his statement. Lawyer Amjad Pervez said that his client Safdar sometimes understands the questions from him and also fights on some queries.

Talking to media, Captain Safdar said that Joint Investigation Team (JIT) tried to make him approver after asking complicated questions.

Responding to a question, he said that Maryam Nawaz is with him from past 25 years but her father needs her more at this time.

Earlier, Maryam Nawaz said that the letter of Panama JIT head Wajid Zia that was submitted on July 3, 2017 cannot be made part of judicial record as evidence in Avenfield reference, saying that the letter was directly sent to JIT which is unlawful.

The documents mentioned in the letter were also not provided, she added.

Maryam Nawaz said that she was not allowed for cross-examination over the letter so that she could not verify the content. Relying on the letter is against fair trial, she continued.

PM’s daughter said that she was never beneficial owner of London flats as she has not gained any financial profit from them.
