Landmine blast claims seven lives in Kurram Agency
The security personnel have also launched an investigation into the matter.
KURRAM AGENCY (Dunya News/AFP) - A landmine blast on Tuesday killed as many as seven people including three women and a child of a same family in Kurram Agency’s Ghoz Garhi area.
The improvised explosive device exploded as a van carrying nine people drove by.
Senior local government official Basir Khan Wazir said the corpses have been shifted to Parachinar Hospital for identification process.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, he added.
Upper Kurram, one of the seven semi-autonomous regions which form the tribal belt along the Afghan border, has been the scene of several bomb attacks in the past.
The tribal districts also remain a top target for militant groups, despite a improvement in security in the country at large in recent years.
