Mobile location reveals Rao Anwar was in Islamabad last week
The notification to suspend the Malir SSP was issued on Monday
KARACHI (Dunya News) – When authorities tried to locate former Malir SSP Rao Anwar, his mobile location revealed that he was in Islamabad last week and the current location could not be recovered.
Police and other law enforcement agencies are in search of the fugitive officer who was alleged to be responsible for the extra-judicial killing of Naqeeb Mehsud.
Anwar’s first location was traced down to Jamshoro while the next came in as Rahimabad area of Rawalpindi. The capital was his third and final location. He was spotted near PIMS Hospital in the J-8 Sector.
Sources told that Anwar’s contact numbers are registered under the names of Ahsanullah and Khair Muhammad. The location traced in Islamabad was in Ahsanullah’s name.
A meeting of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) also took place in Karachi for the purpose of investigating the murders.
After seeking help of the federal and other provincial governments, Sindh Inspector General AD Khawaja wrote to intelligence agencies for their assistance in arresting suspended SSP Malir for his involvement in the killing of Mehsud’s in alleged encounter in Karachi.The law enforcement agencies with the help of technical support and ground intelligence are conducting raids to find the fugitive officer.
In the letter, Sindh IG has expressed his concerns over Anwar’s likely escape to a foreign country. Intelligence agencies have paced up their efforts to locate the whereabouts of Rao Anwar.
On Saturday, the Supreme Court (SC) gave a three-day deadline to Sindh police for Rao Anwar’s arrest.
The ex-SSP had earlier tried to flee Dubai but the bid was foiled by the immigration staff at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on January 23. His name was later placed on Exit Control List (ECL) on the directions of court.
A higher police official has advised Anwar on Whatsapp call to surrender before the police.

On the other hand, a special team headed by SSP Zulfiqar has reached Islamabad to search and arrest the former SSP. Sindh DIG Sultan Khawaja has claimed early arrest of Anwar. He says that extrajudicial killing of the citizens in unacceptable.
He has suggested Anwar and his team to give in before the police as it will be better for them. Four police teams will depart for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today.
