Kohat's slain Asma laid to rest, influential culprit at large

The slain girl identified her murderer in a statement recorded with the police at the hospital.

KOHAT (Dunya News) – A slain girl named Asma Rani, killed by nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) district president for refusing his marriage proposal was laid to rest on Monday.

Mujahidullah Afridi, nephew of the PTI’s official is at large while authorities have formed a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the fatal attack on student of third year at Abbottabad college as she disembarked a rickshaw near her residence.

Funeral prayer of the murdered youth was offered in Lakki Marwat after she succumbed to her injuries while under treatment at a hospital. She had came home to meet her family in Kohat during session break.

Late Asma recorded a statement at the hospital with the police in which she identified Mujahidullah Afridi as the criminal.



A case has also been registered against the two suspects in Township police station under Section 324 and 302 of Pakistan Penal Code.

Lawmakers moved a resolution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly against the attack while chief minister (CM) Pervez Khattak has vowed that the culprit would not be spared.

KP Police Inspector General (IG) has instructed the team to catch the culprit at the earliest and present him before a court.

The resolution moved in the assembly today demands legislation to be done to curb violence against women. Lawmakers have stated that the culprit should be arrested without any procedural delay and brought to justice.
