JIT concludes first session, records statements in Intezar killing case
The team did not establish a link between Madiha Kiyani and police official Muqaddas Haider.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) recorded statements of slain Intezar Ahmed’s bereaved father, Madiha Kiyani, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muqaddas Haider and others in its first session convened on Friday in youth Intezar’s murder case.
A probe team was formed to look into the case after Intezar was gunned down earlier this month in Karachi Defence Housing Authority (DHA).
The team, in its first session today did not establish alleged presence of SSP Haider on the incident site at the time of gunfire and his link with Madeeha Kiyani.
The JIT was informed of Madeeha’s statements that were recorded with police earlier while statements of eight police personnel were recorded as well.
The team led by Counter-terrorism Department (CID) Intelligence Wing SSP Pervez Chandio convened a six-hour long meeting today.
The next session of JIT will be held on Saturday in which post-mortem and forensic reports will be reviewed.
Earlier differences surfaced in JIT. Sources say that CTD authorities wanted to save higher officials and police personnel. They are trying to declare the killing as ‘murder by mistake’.
Other representatives in the team were not provided the chance to question the suspects. It has been revealed that member other than the CTD officials signed at the conclusion of the first session. Sources also say that Anti-Car Lifting Cell’s (ACLC) former chief SSP Muqaddas Haider alloted government pistol to ACLC official Bilal illegally.
Father alleges SSP
Father of slain Intezar Ahmed has accused Anti-Car Lifting Cell’s (ACLC) former chief SSP Muqaddas Haider of involvement in his son’s target killing.
He demanded to bring to light CCTV footage of the incident.
Intezar was killed in DHA on January 13 as he drove a car late in the night with a girl named Madiha occupying the passenger seat.
Probe revealed that at least 13 bullets were fired out of which three hit the vehicle. The boy fatally received one of the bullets on his head following which the car crashed into a road divider and ended up on the wrong way.
Madiha had reportedly walked off the crash site unharmed.
