Over 1,800 Pakistani clerics deliver fatwa against terrorism

'Suicide attacks and militancy in name of implementation of shariah is not permitted in Islam'.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Over 1,800 clerics from across Pakistan have collectively passed a fatwa on Tuesday against terrorism, bloodshed and suicide bombings and a notification was issued in this regard titled ‘Paighm-e-Pakistan’ which translates to ‘A message of Pakistan’.

According to the notification, suicide attacks, extremism and militancy in name of implementation of shariah is not permitted in Islam. It is the obligation of the people to support the armed forces.

Foreign minister Khawaja Asif addressed the ceremony organised in this regard today in the federal capital and said that there is no place for in Pakistan for those who sympathize with terrorism.

Interior minister Ahsan Iqbal also delivered an address to the participants. He said urged Muslim countries to re-calibrate their paths and restore peace and stability.

President Mamnoon Hussain attended the ceremony among other dignitaries.
