President Asif Ali Zardari has showed dissatisfaction over the Thar coal projects progress.

While presiding over a meeting in Karachi, Asif Ali Zardari urged to use sub-soil water for coal mining, power generation and other purposes in the Thar coal field instead of using sweet water which should be utilised for irrigation. He also directed the concerned authorities to complete the Thar coal project and the construction of Zulfiqarabad city as soon as possible. The meeting reviewed the progress on the development of four blocks in Thar coal field. The meeting was informed that 1200MW power would be produced by Thar coal project till 2012. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, provincial ministers, advisors and senior official were also present on the occasion.
